Polish National Credit Union Rakes Up Leaves For Animals

Posted on November 18, 2015

Ten employees from Polish National Credit Union in Chicopee, Mass., recently gathered at the Zoo in Forest Park in an effort to give back to their neighboring community. The weather was beautiful and the volunteer staff worked diligently to clear the large area of all the fallen leaves.

"The effort from the employees of Polish National Credit Union
was great and much appreciated. We'd like to extend an extra thank you to all who came out to help," Amanda Bligh, assistant facilities manager for the Zoo at Forest Park stated.

Aside from the maintenance planned for the day, the zoo directors gave the staff volunteers the opportunity to interact with the animals at the zoo. Some chose to squawk at the emus and turkeys, while others had a chance to get up close and personal with Oz, the zoo celebrity leopard.

For most areas, some staff members blew the leaves into more manageable piles and the remaining staff collected the piles onto a tarp. Once they'd get the bulk of them in a tarp, they'd transport them to where they needed them to be - outside the zoo!
